Ancient Wisdom In A Glass
Ancient wisdom in a glass
Sometimes I think about the small things that have kept people going.
A jar of vinegar on a kitchen shelf, the tang of lemon, a pinch of sea salt.
Tiny acts of care disguised as practicality.
Homemade natural electrolyte drink
Ingredients
- Two cups of apple cider vinegar (I like BRAGG, unpasteurised and steady in its reputation)
- The juice of four lemons
- A sliced lemon
- A knob of ginger
- Three-quarters of a cup of sea salt. (Vera Salt is my go-to; clean, mineral, no fuss)
Method
Stored in the fridge, it keeps for a couple of months, ready whenever my body feels tired or the day stretches a bit too far.
Two tablespoons stirred into cool water, that’s all it asks.
During hard times, vinegar symbolised resourcefulness.
It preserved what mattered, stretched what was scarce, and carried people through. I suppose that’s what I love most about it now, it still speaks to that instinct to endure with grace.
Survival not as struggle, but as care.
This drink, to me, isn’t just a remedy.
It’s a small gesture toward balance, a taste of old wisdom, a daily reminder that even simple things can keep us steady.
Practical magic, humble and alive.
